Programs & Initiatives

The Links, Incorporated has a long tradition of promoting and engaging in educational, civic, and inter-cultural activities that enrich the lives of members of the Black community at large. The cornerstone of our service is our five programming facets — Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services. Through our facets, we implement programs and initiatives that address the most critical needs of underserved communities. Annually, we impact the lives of more than 3 million people at home and abroad.

International Trends & Services

The major goal of the International Trends and Services is to help create awareness of international events, affairs, and issues through personal involvement, commitment, and enrichment. The Links, Incorporated provides services to global friends, especially those living in African and Caribbean countries. This facet provides an opportunity to meet the challenges that lie ahead as the program's horizons are expanded by offering support and sponsorship of international projects whose goals are similar.

The Arts

The establishment of The Arts facet completed the comprehensive program through which The Links, Incorporated has focused on enhancing the knowledge and appreciation of youth and adults for the fine arts.  The Arts facet is one that encourages the implementation of programming to meet the artistic needs of our members and in our communities. The Links, Incorporated has been at the forefront of organizational advocacy for the preservation of African American cultural heritage. Scholarships are also provided for talented individuals.

National Trends & Services

National Trends and Services helps to identify issues and areas in our respective communities where the utilization of resources, talents, and skills can help make a difference. Programs are implemented to help provide assistance in resolving or alleviating economic, political, and social issues that impact mankind.  There is a particular focus on heightening community awareness of the problems faced by minorities and the disadvantaged.

Services to Youth

The Services to Youth facet focuses on identifying those issues and areas in the respective communities where utilization of resources, talents, and skills and make a difference such as providing programming that address educational issues as a basis for attaining and/or maintaining positive self-esteem. This facet also provides programs that increase the literacy rate of youth, implementing local mentoring programs, increasing high school and college graduation rates, and support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Health & Human Services

The Health and Human Services was established in response to the chronic health disparities that persist in our communities and result in the decreased life expectancy of African-Americans.  The mission is to promote and facilitate programs that support the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in communities of color through education, health advocacy, and optimal utilization of health resources. Community education about health risks is an integral part of The Links, Incorporated mission.
